It has been an interesting year. I have learned a lot of things. How to make them little happy or unhappy faces, ones that wink, even. I learned right away not to type in all caps...the lazy man's method. I feel I have been accepted by many, for that thanks. I learned that some folks try to make a joke out of anything and others have very little sense of humor about anything. I have learned that when I put out what I feel is a heart felt and honest piece, no one seems to notice...but I write about my first experience crapping in the woods and it is my #2 top article...isn't that just tooooo ironic. Yep...I have learned a thing or two this year. The thing I learned most and best is that I like it here. You're a pretty good bunch of people, Joe. I have enjoyed reading what you have to say, I have grown very fond of some of you. And all that is gravy. Because I started out doing this because the Hyperborean Wanderer wanted me to put to paper some of the stories about my dad and myself that he had grown up hearing. He wanted me to preserve them before I kicked off, I guess. So I did...preserve them, I mean...no intention to kick off any time soon. The Wanderer will return to the land of the big PX soon and not a penny too late. His little boy knows it is gonna be just a couple more Sundays. I remember those homecomings with such a fondness...piles of TA-50...little boys walking around the house wearing the steel pot and trying to lift the duffel bags...mostly the fierce little hugs and sloppy kisses...well...it's all been for the Wanderer and his siblings.
So I thank you, Joe, for allowing me into your community and your supportive comments and even the non-supportive ones. I hope I can come up with a story or two to tickle you or make you think...
