Am I the only one who sees this?

You may have seen the ad on TV where the point is being made that our schools are failing worldwide. To illustrate the point, the flags of the "superior" nations are being strung up the flagpole, in order, on the same line, like a semiphore signal. The US flag is added to the line of flags in its depressingly low status in the world of acacemics. It shows us where we stand.

I sincerely hope the ad was filmed in Canada or some other foreign country...because in the US of A, the flag of the United States is never to be lower than the flag of any other nation. It may be a grand way to illustrate the way our schools are letting our kids down...an argument for another day...but it is NOT a way to reinforce proper flag etiquette or teach our children about national pride. Another activist organization thumbing their nose at convention in the name of world citizenship. By all means contribute...help us cement the notion that as participants in the world, we are as inferior as they have been trying to prove we are all along. Phooey.

I just happen to believe that these are the same people who decry any attempt at ousting union influence and actual fixes for poor school performance. As long as we have something to whine about, we can insure our own future at the expense of the kids' future. SCROOM. Our kids deserve an education based on facts. Not social engineering from the members of the leftist unions and school administrators.

And for Pete's sake...if the durn ad makers are just ignant of the flag's importance and proper protocol...send THEM back to school.

Beyond the legal issues, there is the dogged issue of patriotism.  The one that the democrats seem to scream about, and no one else seems to pay much mind to.

Until they make this into a republican Ad.  People will not see the "education" theme, only the theme that Obama and the democrats are putting other nations above ours.

It is a very stupid ad.  But then I guess they are products of our education system.

Eh honestly I don't really care too much about proper flag etiquette.  I more care about the state of our education system, which does need reform, be that  better funding,  higher teacher pay, higher standards for our teachers, and bonuses for teachers who actually succeed.

Thank you for your comment, comrade.

Big Fat Daddy, I commend you for bringing this out in the open. It is a ridiculous ad, and our flag should not be underscored. I do feel that our education system does need to shaped up however. We need to get all of the pathetic teachers out of the classroom who use the classroom as a podium for politics. "Diareah of the mouth" is not a topic for teaching. We also need to get the horrible ones out that don't make a difference in childers lives, not just choosing the profession because they get the summer off.

I agree about the quality of education in some of our schools...some are excellent.  Throwing more money at the system will not fix it (that was the purpose of the ad), it is already bloated on public funds...better use of the available funds and weeding out the substandard administrators and teachers is what is needed. Thanks for your reply.
