The Chargers may not get past the Colts tomorrow night, I would be surprised if they did, but they did two MONUMENTAL things by beating the Broncos so soundly last week....thing 1)  they sent the Broncos home...no play offs for you, my little ponies...and 2) Mike Shanahan is GONE.  Not that I have any real animosity towards Mike, but he has whupped up on the Raiders way too much ever since they fired him.  I know, so has everyone else lately.  But he has built a tradition around beating the Raiders and I am tired of it.  Since the Raiders have decided not to play up to their potential anymore, they only matter twice a season.  Bronco weeks.  They were fifty-fifty this year, most years since Mike got here the Broncs have owned the Raiders.  So maybe the new coach will bring success and the Brocos will continue to beat up on Oakland...but at least it won't be dished out by a bitter former Raider coach.  Unless they hire Shell...or Turner...or the kid that we fired this year...or Gruden...or...well...there are a LOT of former Raider coaches around the league...oh well...at least MIKE is gone.

And a side note about the San Diego Chargers...my first love in the NFL...team from the ancestral home of the Stone clan...I hope they can get past Manning and the Colt machine...but if they do...then they gotta beat a bunch more like the Jets or the Steelers or whoever else got in the playoffs.  Well, I HOPE they can...but I don't know....Well...SOMEBODY is gonna go to the big game...might as well be the Chargers.  We'll see.  I LOVE football.

The Broncos were crazy to dump Shannahan. The Broncos were plagued with injuries and never really gave coach Shannahan any options other than "finding a way to win." It was cheezy the way he had his players drop to the ground like Shakespearian actors for injury time outs against the Jets, but it worked. Shannahan threw Favre out of his rythm and gave the Broncos a win. Now that Cowher is out of the running for the Jets new head coach, I would love to see us get Mike. His style would probably fit the Jets perfectly. He would be my first choice if it were up to me.

Mike Shanahan is a very good coach but it was time for him to go in Denver. His team looked lousy the last 3 games of the season. Injuries or not, his team didn't play hard the last game of the season. For a team not to play hard when the playoffs is unexcusable.

Maybe after 14 years players have tuned him out I don't know. If so then more reason for him to go. The last 3 years Denver is 24 -24. They have won only 1 playoff game since John Elway has retired. Pat Bowlen, the Broncos owner has give Shanahan more than enough time to try to turn it around. Plus he's not one of those meddlesome owners.

Shanahan will be alright. He will be a hot commodity and be sought after though I like to see him take a year off.

Now for your Raiders. I don't see that ship getting back on track until one of two things happen. Al Davis gives up power in the football-making decisions and sits back enjoys his later years simply being one of the owners or he dies. Since he feels he knows what he is doing then Raiders fans are going to have to wait until the latter for their team to move forward.

It's a sad thing to see how far they fallen, too. I think it's great for the NFL when the Raiders are doing good. Too bad they are now the Lions of the west.

I would love to see Mike go to New York.  Hmmm...now you just need a quarterback.  How about Jay Cutler, I think he will be moving on come spring training.  Mike is a clever snake, no doubt.  Injury timeouts are his latest.  The last second timeout before a game winning field goal was his idea, too.  The truth is that Mike should have been canned two seasons ago.  But he is gone now...you are welcome to him.

Both Games yesterday were good, with Arizona winning and the Chargers winning in overtime. I hope todays games are as well played. Since I really do NOT watch football till the playoff unless I can catch a New York Giants game I look forward to good football durung playoffs.

Having it "in" for a team is not always bad.  The year that Turner was Raider Coach, he did beat the Skins and boys.  But you are right. Shanahan let it rule his roost.  It is good to see him go.

I respect the Chargers and Chiefs.  As painful as the Raiders have been lately, I still see a lot of good to come.  But I have no respect for the Ponies (and have not since Elway was QB - sorry, I dont like whiners).

Turner may have saved his job for a year, but he really needs to go as well.  Not for being a vindictive coach, but for being a bad one.  I actually feel sorry for the bolts (my in-law's team) when they hired him.  He was the best thing for the deadskins (as I hate the team), and the worst thing for every other team.

Doc:  I won't answer twice, I looked at the Bolts responses before I looked here so check it out there. Thanks.

I watched the Chargers game last night against the Colts.  That was a fun game.  I don't often enjoy watching football, but when the game is good, it's great.
